Tackling money worries

20th June 2016

Over the next few months we are stepping up our work to tackle money worries in our communities.  There are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Get help early

Let's get this out of the way.  If you are struggling with your finances, you are not alone.  We support in the region of 900 people a year to manage their money better, and to tackle problem debt.  The number one piece of advice is come early.  Don't leave it and hope it will go away; it will only get more difficult.  We can offer free, non-judgemental,  quality assured, impartial debt advice that is accredited by the FCA.

If you struggle from time to time to balance the books, want to save for something specific, or need access to better credit, why not join up to your local credit union.  Throughout June (and beyond) we can help you find out which credit union is best for you, help you to open an account and talk to you about your own finances.

Let's face it, we could all do with some help to manage our money from time to time.  Why don't you express an interest in learning more.  We have a range of personal advice, group support and education courses coming up, so let us know if you're interested.

One of the best ways of learning is to follow the work of our amazing money advisors. You can do this by volunteering to support the team, doing bits of administration, learning about money as you go.  Who knows, you might have what it takes to become an advisor yourself.

Encourage your church

We work closely with the fabulous folk at Community Money Advice to support other churches to take action on money in their area.  We started with a big heart but little clue on where to start.  We can help you to take those first steps.
